Commissioners asked McKenzie and Curti to go through the written <br />priorities submitted by members and come back with recommendations. <br /> <br />Approve Minutes <br /> <br />Phil Crump moved and Howard Wagner seconded approval ofthe July 2002 minutes. <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Essav Contest and Ouestion <br /> <br />McKenzie reported that she took the Essay Question to the State Human Rights <br />Commission. They approved it unanimously without any changes. <br /> <br />Phil Crump, Steve Smith, Howard Wagner and Carolyn Curti will meet with the <br />principals of Roseville Middle School and Parkview School to discuss ways to improve <br />participation in the Essay Contest. Commission members discussed ideas to improve <br />participation including press releases, letters to home schooled children and visits to all <br />schools. <br /> <br />September II Recognition <br /> <br />McKenzie asked for ways that the Commission and the City could recognize the <br />anniversary of the September II terrorist attack. Commissioners discussed several ideas. <br />Members agreed to have the City replay the tape of the "How to Heal: Do I Have To Be <br />Hateful After A Hateful Act?" <br /> <br />Race Equalitv Week <br /> <br />Commission members reviewed the National League of Minnesota Cities information <br />about Race Equality Week from September 23-29,2002. Crump moved and Chapin <br />seconded approval of submitting proclamation to the City Council. Motion passed. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />McKenzie reminded all members to sign up for the League of Minnesota Human Rights <br />Commissions 31 st Annual Conference on September 28. The City will pay the <br />registration fee. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />Howard Wagner moved and Larry Voeller seconded the motion to adjourn.
