Thein encouraged the Commission to continue working with RAS Diversity Coordinator Johanna
Eager.

Next steps - Commissioners asked staff send a copy of the essay question to Dr. Thein, and once we
get the Speakers Bureau list together send that to him. In addition, the Commission will send one of
the posters that we send to schools to Dr. Thein. Phil ClUmp will send a note thanking Dr. Thein for
mceting with the Commission members.

Martin Luther King - I Have a Dream Presentation

Karen Vnuk reported that her coworker is available to present the MLK I Have a Dream speech in
February. Commissioners selected either February 7 or 21, depending upon availability at the
Roseville Library. Commissioners discussed ways to promote the presentation so that we get full
attendance. Some of the suggestions include: invitation to schools, scout troops, churches, elected
officials and others. The Commission will provide refreshments and bookmarks.

Holiday Volunteer Project

For the past several meetings, the Commission has discussed an outreach program that brings people
together who may not regularly mix. One possibility was to have students interview elderly Roseville
residents. However, there did not seem to be a feasible way to get this completed. Commissioners
agreed to table this issue indefinitely.

Web site Improvements

Thelma McKenzie mentioned that the Morris, MN Human Rights Commission has an excellent
webpage at http://www.morrisn)n,QIg/mhrc/index.html. She suggested that Commissioners review it
for ideas for the Commission's own webpage.

Essay Contest

Howard Wagner reported that he delivered the essay contest questions to all of the schools.
Commissioners requested that staff follow up with notes to the schools encouraging them to
participate.

Commission Chair Qnarterly Meetings

Howard Wagner reported that he attended a meeting for chairs of City of Roseville Commissions.
They plan to meet quarterly to discuss issues of common interest. The Chairs group would have no
voting authority. The other chairs liked the HRC brochure and are encouraged to create one for each
Commission.

Steve Zorn moved and Phil Crump seconded the motion to adjoum. Motion passed and meeting
adjoumed at 8:10 p.m.
