<br /> <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes, December 9, 2003 <br /> <br />Present: Thelma McKenzie, Chair; Steve Zorn, Vice-Chair, Phillip Crump, Janet Delmore, Steve <br />Smith, Karen Vnuk, Larry Voeller, Howard Wagner <br />Absent: Mark Chapin, Jacqueline LeMay <br />Staff: Carolyn Curti <br /> <br />Guest: Mayor John Kysylyczyn <br /> <br />Thelma McKenzie called the meeting to order at 7: 15 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at <br />Roseville City Hall. <br /> <br />Approve Minutes <br /> <br />Phillip Crump moved approval of the minutes and Steve Zorn seconded. The minutes were <br />approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Welcome New Commissioner <br /> <br />Chair Thelma McKenzie welcomed Janet Delmore, the newest member to the Commission. <br /> <br />Essay Contest <br /> <br />Carolyn Curti distributed the top 28 essays to the Commissioners. Commissioners are to read <br />and score all essays and then email or fax their scores to City of Roseville Office Assistant Cindy <br />Anderson by January 9. At the January meeting Commissioners will review the top choices and <br />select the number of essays to receive honorable mentions. Winners and those who receive <br />honorable mention and their teachers will be invited to a February City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Holiday Service Project <br /> <br />Steve Smith reminded Commissioners of the Holiday Party for Seniors on December 12 at <br />Fairview Community Center. Commissioners are encouraged to volunteer at the event as part of <br />the Human Rights Commission efforts to increase the Commission's visibility in the community. <br /> <br />Martin Luther King - I Have a Dream Preseutation <br /> <br />Commissioners discussed the preparations including bookmarks, who to invite, publicity efforts <br />and the schedule for the February 21 event.
