<br />suggested book titles to learn more about Civil Rights leaders and events. Commissioners will <br />provide names of books to include on the bookmark. <br /> <br />Commissioners discussed how to publicize and who to invite to the event. The room at the <br />Library holds about 80 people. Commissioners agreed to invite the following groups. <br /> <br />o Superintendent ofRoseville Area Schools <br />o Johanna Eager and Diversity Committee <br />o Principals, teachers and students <br />o Local Businesses <br />o Service organizations <br />o Youth groups (boy scouts, girl scouts) <br />o Churches <br />o Elected officials <br />o Members of speakers bureau <br />o Other Human Rights Commissions <br /> <br />City staff will create flyers to send to these groups and possibly create posters to distribute to <br />local businesses in Roseville. <br /> <br />Commissioners discussed the schedule for the day's event and whether the Commission should <br />invite others to participate. After some discussion, Commissioners decided to have Mark Taylor <br />perform and not invite others to speak. Karen Vnuk will act as moderator. Following the <br />presentation, she will talk about the Human Rights Commission, and someone from the Library <br />will speak briefly about the Library. <br /> <br />2004 Human Rights Commission Meeting Schedule <br /> <br />Commissioners reviewed the meeting schedule for 2004. The dates are as follows: January 13; <br />February 10; March 9; April 13; May 11; June 8; August 10; September 14; October 12; <br />November 9; and December 14. There is no meeting in July, and the September 14 meeting <br />begins at 8:01 p.m. <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission Name Badges <br /> <br />Commissioners requested that the City provide them with badges to identify themselves as <br />Human Rights Commissioners. Carolyn Curti will check to see what types of badges are <br />available and the cost. <br /> <br />Department of Human Rights Annual Human Rights Day <br /> <br />Carolyn Curti distributed a Pioneer Press alticle about the Department of Human Rights annual <br />conference. It included a picture of Chair Thelma McKenzie talking with Governor Tim <br />Pawlenty. Thelma attended the first half of the Department of Human Rights annual conference <br />on December 5. She heard several speakers, including David Weissbrodt, Sabina Zimering, <br />Governor Pawlenty and Cheri Pierson Yecke. <br /> <br />2 <br />
