<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />June 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Present: Janet Delmore, Phillip Crump, Scott Higbee, Ann Keeney, Pam Kennedy, Tam <br />McGehee and Bob Venters <br />Staff: Carolyn Curti <br /> <br />Chair Janet Delmore called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Approve Minutes <br /> <br />Commissioner Ann Keeney moved and Commissioner Tam McGehee seconded approval ofthe <br />minutes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Business <br /> <br />Chair Delmore reported on former St. Paul Chief of Police Bill Finney's presentation at <br />Roseville Area High School. She reported that there were 60 students from two classes. The <br />students were very attentive and asked good questions. Both the Roseville Review and the Sun <br />Focus carried articles and pictures of Chief Finney. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore reported that she attempted to participate in the Parks and Recreation's "Discover <br />Your Parks" but she went to the wrong park. Commissioner Scott Higbee spoke about his <br />participation when he was a Parks and Recreation Commissioner. Commissioners agreed that if <br />time permitted, they would attend upcoming Discover Your Parks events. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGehee asked about the Rosefest activities and what has been done to <br />encourage diversity on gender, race and age. <br /> <br />Possible Agenda Items to Discuss with Council <br /> <br />Chair Delmore asked for possible topics the Commission could discuss with the City Council at <br />their joint meeting on August 14. Commissioners had extensive conversations about possible <br />topics. Commissioners talked about ways to hear from the community. They wondered ifthe <br />visioning process currently being undertaken by the City Council would include diversity. <br />Commissioners agreed to staff a table at the 4th of July celebration at Central Park and to engage <br />residents in discussions. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGehee moved and Commissioner Bob Venters seconded spending not more <br />than $150 for t-shirts with a Human Rights message that Commissioners would wear at the 4th of <br />July celebration.
