<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City of <br /> <br />~ <br />Minnesota, USA <br />Human Rights Commission <br />DRAFT - Meeting Minutes - DRAFT <br />October 10,2006 <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Chair Janet Delmore; Commissioners Scott Higbee, Tam McGehee and Bob <br />Venters. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Commissioners Phillip Crump; Ann Keeney; and Pam Kennedy. <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Sheila Stowell, Recording Secretary <br /> <br />Call to Order: <br /> <br />Chair Delmore called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />Chair Delmore advised that, while Carolyn Curti would continue to serve as <br />staff liaison, Sheila Stowell would serve as Recording Secretary for meeting <br />minutes. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Commissioner Higbee moved and Commissioner Venters seconded approval of the September 12, <br />2006 meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried 3/0, with Commissioner McGehee abstaining <br />as she was not in attendance at the September 12, 2006 meeting. <br /> <br />Elect Chair and Vice-Chair to the Commission <br />Chair Delmore advised that a Chair and Vice-Chair were scheduled for election this meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Higbee moved and Commissioner McGehee seconded re-election of Chair Delmore. <br />Motion carried 4/0. <br /> <br />There was no appointment of a Vice-Chair. <br /> <br />New Resident Packet <br />Commissioners discussed the City's current welcome packet. Discussion included samples <br />available from other communities; including the Commission's "Are you protected" brochure; <br />status and how current packets are and types or material to be included, based on community <br />interest and needs. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore shared an e-mail from staff liaison Carolyn Curti. (No copy available.) <br /> <br />Chair Delmore opined that, given historical events related to complaints, information on what can <br />and cannot be done needed to be clarified. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore advised that she had discussed with Interim City Manager Chris Miller, and recently <br />received, a letter of apology from the City's Police Department regarding a recent citizen complaint <br />fielded by the Human Rights Commission; and advising that the incident referenced had <br />inadvertently been taped over by the department. <br />Chair Delmore opined that she was impressed with Mr. Miller's approachability and apparent <br />
