<br />City of <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 09, 2007 <br /> <br />Present: Chair Janet Delmore; Commissioners Bob Venters; Scott Higbee; Philip <br />Crump; with Commissioner Tam McGehee arriving at approximately 7:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioners Ann Keeney and Pam Bosch had advised that they would be <br />unavailable for tonight's meeting. <br /> <br />Others Present: Sheila Stowell, Recording Secretary <br /> <br />Call to Order: Chair Delmore called the meeting to order at approximately 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Commissioners discussed their preference for the amount of detail to be included in meeting <br />minutes. After discussion, it was their consensus that no changes be made. <br /> <br />Commissioner Higbee moved and Commissioner Crump seconded approval of the December 12, <br />2006 meeting minutes as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried 4/0. <br /> <br />Contact with Roseville Area Schools Diversity Coordinator by Chair Delmore <br />Chair Delmore advised that she had contacted the School District's Diversity Coordinator, Johanna <br />Eager, and detailed various aspects oftheir conversation regarding a member of the City's HRC <br />serving on the School's Diversity Task Force for update for the State ofMN; diversity and <br />longevity of current school staffing; and ongoing communication concerns in the HRC becoming <br />more involved with the School District. <br /> <br />Discussion included meeting dates, format, make-up and meeting times (5 meetings scheduled) for <br />the Task Force; possible Commissioner to serve; objective of Task Force; inability to obtain <br />quantitative and qualitative data from the School District to determine measurable results; options <br />for building a relationship with school personnel to encourage more diversity training into the <br />schools; and attempting to have someone from the School District attend an HRC meeting for <br />additional dialogue. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore volunteered to contact Eager and schedule a date for her attendance at an HRC <br />meeting, hopefully at the March 12 HRC meeting. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore indicated that she intended to attend at a minimum the first Task Force meeting; and <br />Commissioner Crump volunteered to seek his wife's interest in her attendance on behalf of the <br />HRC. <br /> <br />Commissioner Higbee advised that his requests to the School District for additional information <br />
