Shipchandler <br />as Facing Race Manager <br /> <br />(Saint Paul, Minn.) -Rowzat M. Ship chandler was recently named Facing Race Manager. Facing Race is The <br />Saint Paul Foundation's initiative to create a more equitable, just and open community in which everyone feels <br />safe, valued and respected. In her new position, Rowzat will coordinate the development and implementation of <br />the Facing Race Initiative work plan and ensure completion of day-to-day programmatic and fund-raising <br />activities. This fall, she will coordinate the launch of the project's effort to spark conversations about race at the <br />individual and institutional levels. <br />"Rowzat brings a wealth of professional and volunteer experience to her role at The Saint Paul <br />Foundation," says Claire Chang, director of program planning and special initiatives. "Rowzat's knowledge and <br />experience will help to advance the Facing Race effort to a new leveL" <br />. Since 1999, Rowzat worked at the Greater Twin Cities United Way as a fund distribution manager and <br />as the community building strategies program manager. Her efforts at the neighborhood level include working <br />with the Department of Justice Weed and Seed Initiative and as a crime prevention coordinator for the Summit- <br />University Planning Council. In 1996, Rowzat worked as a community services specialist with Crime Victim <br />Services, where she designed and implemented an outreach program to urban communities of color. <br />Rowzat volunteers with Dakota County Community Correction's Restorative Conferencing program to <br />bring crime victims and offenders together to talk about the crime and determine restitution. She also serves on <br />the board of Katha Dance Theatre and is a fellow with the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute's Policy Fellows <br />program at the University of Minnesota. <br /> <br />The Saint Paul Foundation is the community foundation for Saint Paul and surrounding areas.
