Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission

Agenda Item

Date: May 22, 2007

Item No: 5

Item Description: High School Environmental Group "Cool Cities Campaign"

The City Council is considering a resolution supporting a "Cool Cities Campaign" at its Monday,
May 21, 2007, meeting. If adopted, this resolution will charge the City's commissions and staff
to embrace and identify areas that the City can reduce energy consumption or emissions and
generally reduce our impact on the environment.

This topic came to light recently after a Roseville High School environmental group gave a
presentation to the City Council. This group has been invited to the PWETC meeting to present
this information. We have included some background on this topic from previous Council
meetings and from the internet. We will have more Council direction after their Monday night
meeting.

Recommended Action:

Discussion of presentation and future agenda discussion areas
