Motion carried Approval of the February 27, 2007, Meeting Minutes Member Fischer moved to approve the minutes with corrections noted of the February 27,2007, meeting of the Public Works, Environment and TranspOliation Commission. Member Neprash seconded. Ayes: 3 Nays: 0 Motion canied 4. Communication Items Deb Bloom reminded viewers that Roseville cleanup day is Saturday, April 28. A copy of "The End of the Road: ChaIlen2es of Fundin2 Minnesota's Local Road and Brid2e Network" was provided to the Commission. Member Fischer asked about the current state of the bridges in Roseville. Ms. Bloom said Roseville was responsible for three bridges in the city. The Lexington A venue Bridge is under state jurisdiction and is scheduled for maintenance in the near future. Funding is always an issue. Chair DeBenedet updated the Commission on the Rice Street Technical Advisory Committee. The level of traffic growth projected will probably require a four-lane road; and as sections are reconstructed, they will be designed with that projection in mind. His concern is to maintain access for existing businesses and homes. Duane Schwartz suggested that the Commission might want to drive the road sometime in the next month. Member Vanderwall said that he lives on the east side of Roseville and drives across Rice Street quite often. He almost always sees pedestrians trying to get across, plus there are children walking to school in that area. He wants to make sure pedestrians are given more consideration in designs changes. 5. F ertilizer/Pesticide Discussion Member Vanderwall moved to recommend the final draft of the ordinance to the City Council for their action. Member Fischer seconded. Member Vanderwall asked for some background as to why the Commission was recommending a change in the ordinance. Member Neprash filled him in. Page 2 of 5
