Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, June 18, 2007
Page 21
Mr. Brian Carey provided comment on the success of their previous
Roseville senior housing projects; existing waiting list of thirty peo-
ple; and their enthusiasm to work on another project in Roseville.
Mr. Carey advised that the current plan was solely in response to the
request by staff and the Park and Recreation Commission to provide
access to Langton Lake Park, with the developer's preference being
the original plan that provided transition for single-family homes by
including the twin homes south of the co-op building. Mr. Carey ad-
vised that if the City Council thought the first plan was more appro-
priate, the developer would be willing to work with the City on that
option.
Councilmember Ihlan suggested that the City Council consider an ex-
tension of the 60-day land use review, opining that there seemed to be
a huge number of policy questions and environmental issues that
needed to be considered, and additional information provided to the
City Council before they could make a decision.
Councilmember Pust questioned the intent of the developer and their
preferred design layout; and whether they were presenting this site
plan, or wanted to return to their previous design; and whether the de-
veloper should seek to delay Council action on the proposed site plan
before them tonight to allow time for the developer and staff to work
out more details.
Mr. Carey clarified that, while the developer would have preferred a
Study Session with the City Council as the plans developed, the de-
veloper was before the City Council tonight requesting approval of the
plan before them with staff support, rather than delaying the project
further.
Mr. Hall noted that, by eliminating the twin homes for the project, and
compromising by including the access road to the park, the developer
had significantly reduced their profit potential by approximately $1
million.
