Recognition -Proclamation -Proclaim August 7, 2007 as Na- <br />tional Night Out in Roseville <br />Mayor Klausing read the proclamation declaring National Night Out <br />2007. <br />Police Department Community Relations Coordinator and Crime pre- <br />vention Officer Heather Darby noted this was the 24th annual event <br />and Roseville's 15th year of involvement in the program, having won <br />national recognition in each of those 15 years. Ms. Darby mentioned <br />the donations received from several area businesses to further enhance <br />the evening, thanked the block captains for work organizing their <br />neighborhoods and encouraged other block parties to register with the <br />City at 651/792-7209 or by downloading an application from the Po- <br />lice Department's website. Ms. Darby noted that last year there were <br />over 70 block parties registered with the City and encouraged more <br />this year. Ms. Darby also noted that the City would kickoff National <br />Night Out the evening before with an event at Central Park for fami- <br />lies, with the City's safety departments in full attendance and many <br />family events scheduled. <br />Ms. Darby thanked the City's Parks and Recreation, Public Works, <br />Police and Fire Departments for their extra work in making the events <br />possible in various neighborhoods. <br />Mayor Klausing reiterated Ms. Darby's appreciation to City staff and <br />various departments for their participation in this wonderful activity <br />and encouraged all residents to participate. <br />Councilmember Kough also thanked the departments, and encouraged <br />block parties to register so Councilmembers could attend as many as <br />possible. <br />Kough moved, Pust seconded, Tuesday, August 7, 2007 as 24th An- <br />nual National Night Out in Roseville; and encouraged all neighbor- <br />hood groups to take advantage of the evening to promote cooperative, <br />police-community crime and drug prevention efforts and communica- <br />tion among neighbors. <br />Roll Call <br />
