Prohibited: Except as provided lll subsection B, all open burning is prohibited in <br />the City. <br />B. Exceptions: Recreational campfires, fires for the purpose of bona fide Fire <br />Department training, as approved by the Fire Chief, and open bul-ning of trees <br />resulting from extensive storm damage, at a central collection site, when <br />approved by the t~"~~t~~ ~,""`~ ~ r ~`El f i ~:h Chief. The following requirements shall <br />apply to all recreational fires: <br />1. The minimum distance to a structure or property line shall he twenty-five <br />feet (25'). <br />2. The inaximwn permitted size shall be three feet (3') in diameter. <br />3. The permitted fuels -charcoal or one inch (1'°) minimum diameter wood, <br />no trash or garden residue. <br />4. The maximum duration shall he four (4) hours. <br />5. No combustible materials shall be placed within a three foot (3') radius of <br />fire. <br />6. The fire shall be constantly. attended by a responsible adult. <br />7. A means of extinguishing the fire shall be present (such as a garden hose <br />or a fire extinguisher).. <br />8. Recreational fires shall be used for cooping, social or recreational <br />purposes. Disposing of trash, debris, grass, tree trilriinings, or similar <br />materials shall not he allowed.: <br />C. Permits Required: It shall be the duty of the Fire Chief and/or Fire Marshal to <br />investigate requests for and to issue open burning permits for the purposes stated <br />in subsection B. <br />D. Institutional Recreation Burning Permits: The ~.~+~~ ~ ~ ~~ ~"~~~`t~ i ~rkft~r ~'~.~~~ ~~. a~~E b~n;~~ <br />Fire Chief and/or Fire Marshal may issue institutional recreation burning permits <br />for schools, social clubs and other organizations, in situations where unique <br />circumstances preclude the ability of the institution to meet the standards of the <br />Code.
