Angela i2. Torres
From: Nick_Rowse@fws.gov
Sent: Friday, March 30, 2407 1:39 PM
To; Angela R. Torres
Subject: Re: Request for information - Northwestem College EAW
Angela,
l have reviewed my information while looking at aerial photography for the site. Below is my response highlighted.
Niek
Below is Question No. 11 of the EAW t am preparing for Northwestern College. Please provide me with any information
that you have in your data base. In addition, attached is a map showing the project location.
11. Fish, wildlife and ecologically sensitive resources
a. Identify fish and wildlife resources and habitats on or near the site and describe how they would be affected by the
project. Describe any measures to be taken to minimize or avoid impacts.
Forested habitat surrounding both Johanna Lake and Little Johanna Lake provide important nesting habitat for migratory
birds such as warblers and other other songbirds. To avoid impacts to these habitats, we recommend that they be
preserved. If necessary to remove individual trees, we recommend native trees tie planted following any development.
As much buffer as possible, should be maintained to enhance fish and wildlife habitat
b. Are any state-listed (endangered, threatened or special concern) species, rare plant communities or other sensitive
ecological resources such as native prairie habitat, colonial waterbird nesting colonies or
regionally rare plant communities on or near the site? Yes X No
1
