Mr. Godbout expressed dis-
appointmentthat the neighborhood was not noticed of tonight's meeting.
Linda Ashworth, 2232 Rosewood Lane
Ms. Ashworth, as Internship Director at Northwestern College, spoke in support
of the PUD Agreement; and opined that, while recognized continuing traffic con-
gestion on Lydia and Fairview, that the majority of the traffic on Lydia Avenue
was not college-related.
John Helmberger, 20 year RV resident; NW College alumni, board of Trus-
tees
Mr. Helmberger expressed appreciation to speakers, and their positive and en-
couraging reactions to students and their impact on the community. Mr. Helm-
berger opined that the college had worked at being a good citizen; and spoke in
support of the PUD Agreement as a positive step forward and continuation of a
good working relationship with the community.
Judy Palke, RV resident; Shorewood Crv
Ms. Palke spoke in support of the PUD Agreement, expressing appreciation for
college amenities and benefits to the neighborhood and community.
Rou Tanning, 1868 Brenner Avenue (north end of Langton Lake)
Mr. Tanning spoke in support of the college; opining that future I-35W expansion
would alleviate many traffic issues in the area. Mr. Tanning further spoke in sup-
port of additional parking solutions on campus, rather than on-street parking for
students. Mr. Tanning opined his assurance that no building project, in today`s
world, could proceed without substantial environmental review and/or mitigation.
Marlene Smith, City of Shoreview resident
Ms. Smith spoke in support of the college's request; opining that traffic issues
were related to drivers attempting to avoid rush hour traffic on Snelling Avenue.
Steven Carlson, Lydia Avenue
Mr. Carlson spoke in opposition to the request; expressing concerns with escalat-
ing traffic issues, additional potential development from the Twin Lakes area and
potential negative impacts on the neighborhood; and the changing dynamics of
the neighborhood and additional negative pressures of the area, in addition to
safety issues, and impacts to land prices of adjacent property owners to the col-
lege.
