Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, December 17, 2007
Page 2
Mayor Klausing recommended that with the budget-related items moved forward on the
agenda, Councilmembers allow for flexibility in the additional items that could be dis-
cussed at tonight's meeting, since it was the last meeting of the year.
3. Public Comment
Mayor Klausing called for public comment by members of the audience on any non-
agenda items.
a. Merle Goodmanson, 2630 N Fairview Avenue
Mr. Goodmanson distributed a bench handout, the High School Sports Magazine
featuring the Roseville Gymnastics team as the Nation's Best!, holding the #1
spot in the country for the last two (2) years. Mr. Goodmanson opined that this
situation was a direct result of the City working with the School District on the
new gymnastics center; and said "thank you" to this and preceding City Councils.
Mr. Goodmanson opined that there were people in the City of Roseville who ap-
preciated what the City Council did, and that the City was able to get the work
done.
Mayor Klausing duly noted the work done on the gymnastics center by preceding
Councils.
Mr. Goodmanson also noted the upcoming 2007 New Year's Eve Celebration on
Ice, annually and enthusiastically sponsored by his firm since 1971.
4. Council Communications, Reports and Announcements
Councilmember Roe provided a brief update on the most recent meeting of the Compre-
hensive Plan Update Steering Committee; and assured the City Council that organiza-
tional concerns had been mutually resolved at the beginning of that meeting, and discus-
sions were off to a good start, and proceeding more effectively than it may have ap-
peared.
Councilmember Ihlan concurred that the meeting had been very productive, and discus-
sion centered on generating issues that the group needed to consider and review.
Councilmember Roe noted a recent newspaper article, indicating that the HarMar Apart-
ment Project had received $300,000 in Metropolitan Council grant funds, opining that
this was good news in putting together the financial package for their renovation of the
multi-family units.
5. Recognitions, Donations, Communications
a. Ramsey County Update by Commissioner Jan Parker and Report about
Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative by Judge Gary
Bastian
