Regular City Council Meeting Monday, January 07, 2008 Page 12 Councilmember Pust expressed interest; but opined that it was critical to tie into the Imagine Roseville 2025 discussion, and to hold it as early in the year as possi- ble, and with Department Heads. Councilmember Ihlan questioned if this was something that could be accom- plished on a regular meeting date in the near future, in Study Session format. Mayor Klausing noted the different dynamics and advantages of holding the stra- tegic planning session outside the normal meeting schedule, on a different day, at a different time, and at a different location. Mayor Klausing further noted the projected heavy meeting agendas. City Manager Malinen concurred with Mayor Klausing in separating the discus- sion from a normal business calendar and as a separate function. Counciimember Ihlan clarified that she was suggesting that a regularly scheduled meeting date be utilized, but devoted to strategic planning. Councilmember Roe suggested that the planning meeting be held as soon as pos- sible; opining that he was not averse to holding it on a Monday night, as long as it was separate from the current calendar to allow dedicated discussion. Council- member Roe concurred with Councilmember Pust that the first priority of discus- sion should be finishing the last step in the Imagine Roseville 2025 priority and goal setting. Mayor Klausing concurred that the meeting be held sooner than later; and opined his support for a night other than Monday, preferably a Saturday morning when minds were fresh and would allow for significant discussion. Mayor Klausing re- quested that City Manager Malinen have staff poll the Council on an available date and time for the strategic planning session. City Manager Malinen, on a related note, provided an internal dynamic document showing the number of meetings scheduled for 2008; the total number of hours, and the number allocated to-date. City Manager Malinen suggested that this document, in its ever-changing format and presentation, be used by Councilmem- bers as a tool in developing priorities and calendar management throughout the year. City Manager Malinen encouraged Councilmembers to provide feedback and suggestions to staff on how the document could better work for them. 12. Councilmember-Initiated Items for Future Meetings 13.
