Provide a method for citizen input concerning human rights issues;
2. Promote a positive human rights climate in the community; and
3. Provide educational opportunities about human rights.
All Commission members live in Roseville. The eleven members have a broad range of
experience, both personal and professional, in dealing with Human Rights issues. They
• have a variety of work experiences including attorneys, mediator, professor, psychologist,
social worker and business people. They range from a high school student to senior
citizens. The members represent a broad mix of races, gender and ages. (Membership
list is attached.)
The RHRC has served the community since 1968. Members are appointed to rotating
three year terms and can serve up to three terms. The Roseville City Council strives to
appoint a diverse membership on all commissions, especially on the RHRC.
Throughout the years the RHRC has sponsored many activities to raise awareness about
racial issues. Recent activities include an annual Human Rights essay contest for seventh
and eighth grade students, community forums on racial issues and training opportunities
for City staff and elected officials. The RHRC also monitors allegations of
discrimination and works to educate individuals and the community about discriminatory
actions.
The RHRC is building a Human Rights Network within the City of Roseville. The
Network includes Commission members, all Roseville religious communities and
businesses and individuals who have expressed interest and concern over human rights
issues.
The RHRC operates with limited financial resources. Commission members generously
• donate their time to promote human rights in the community. To enhance our
effectiveness, the RHRC will partner with the Roseville Area Schools (letter of support
