Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, February 25, 2®08 <br />Page 2 <br />Cowrcilmember Pust further advised that she had earlier this week attended a <br />Transit for Livable Communities Seminar, noting that Public Works Director <br />Duane Schwartz had also attended. Councilmember Pust reported on the avail- <br />ability of grant funding for non-motorized transportation pilot programs, and <br />Roseville's ranking in previous grant applications for these funds. Councilmem- <br />ber Pust noted that there were staff and elected officials from several metropolitan <br />communities, and that the group had been encouraged to consider development in <br />light ofnon-motorized transportation opportunities. <br />Councilmember Roe reported on his and Councilmember Ihlan's attendance and <br />participation on the Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Committee and the <br />amount of work over the last few weeks in reviewing various areas in the com- <br />munity for development. Councilmember Roe noted that, in light of that recent <br />work, the next meeting of the Steering Committee would consider specific <br />thoughts from the consultant and staff based on that work to develop the plan it- <br />self Councilmember Roe reminded citizens that the meetings were open to the <br />public, with the next meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 6:00 <br />p.m. in the Public Works Building conference room. Councilmember Roe also <br />encouraged citizens to plan to attend an upcoming Open House for the Steering <br />Committee Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Citv Hall to receive public input from <br />the community to respond to those proposals. <br />b. Receive Councilmember Kough's Letter <br />Councilmember Ihlan read a letter from Councilmember Kough, dated February <br />11, 2008, regarding his potential resignation from the City Council before the end <br />of his tern1, and his thoughts on options for the City Council to name his succes- <br />sor. <br />Mayor Klausing asked that City Attorney Jay Squires and City Manager Bill Ma- <br />linen provide information to the City Council on the current City Ordinance, as <br />prepared when a previous vacancy occurred on the City Council; and updates on <br />research completed at that time. <br />Mayor Klausing also requested that Election Official Carolyn Curti be consulted <br />and provide information to the City Council on the Special Election process and <br />lead time requirements. <br />By concurrence, Councilmembers concurred that this item be included on the next <br />meeting agenda. <br />Councilmember Pust expressed the desire of the City Council, community and <br />staff that Councilmember Kough would be able to serve out his term. <br />Councilmember Roe suggested that deliberations be held at a meeting when <br />Councilmember Kough was able to attend, and if necessary to reschedule that <br />
