Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, July 21, 2008
Page 4
Ms. Radel advised that up-to-date information, including the latest draft of the
Comprehensive Plan, meeting dates, and contact information for comments or
questions, was available on the City's website; in addition to a list serve available
for residents to receive a-mail updates to better follow the process.
Ms. Radel advised that the Steering Committee had two additional meetings
scheduled: July 24 and August 14; followed by another Public Open House for
comment on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Ms. Radel fur-
ther noted the process remaining after that Open House with the Steering Com-
mittee approval of the recommended plan scheduled for September 11, 2008, fol-
lowed by initial Planning Commission and City Council review in late September
or early October; a draft of the Plan submitted to other municipalities for local
government review and informal review by the Metropolitan Council.
Ms. Radel noted that another Public Hearing at the Planning Commission level
was scheduled on December 8, 2008; followed by submittal for City Council ac-
tion on December 8, 2008; submission to the Metropolitan Council for formal re-
view, and final Plan approval by the City Council in the spring of 2009.
11. Public Hearings
a. Request to Extend Working Hours for Rosedale Center
City Engineer Debra Bloom advised of the 1300' and 1100' mailed notice area
provided to residents who may be impacted by this project, along with posted and
published notice. Ms. Bloom opined that there should be little disruption with the
exception of some back-up alarms on vehicles at the project site during early
morning hours.
Ms. Bloom advised that staff had' received only one call from a resident with
questions, but no opposition to the project. Ms. Bloom noted that Gary Gunder-
son of Haglin & Sons was present to respond to City Council comments or ques-
tions.
Mayor Klausing opened the Public Hearing at 6:15 p.m.
Councilmember Ihlan questioned if the 350' notice was large enough or if it ex-
tended sufficiently to notify residents farther away, but who may wish to know of
the proposed hour extension at Rosedale. Councilmember Ihlan questioned if the
city retained the authority to revoke the variance if complaints were received.
Ms. Bloom clarified the extent of the notice area was measured from the property
line, not the entrances to the mall, with 140 different residences noticed.
