Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, August 11, 2008
Page 12
Further discussion included Councilmember preference that the City Energy Pol-
icy and continued code enforcement efforts remained funded; whether the Code
Enforcement was yet in place; work of the subcommittee on trails and pathways
to identify the sidewalk plan/project and whether funding would need to be pro-
vided for any outside consulting; and portions of the trail system and sidewalk
component that would be in conjunction with the Park Master Plan, as well as
those connections outside of parks.
City Manager Malinen clarified staff's request to proceed with initiating the Parks
Master Plan to gain momentum and continue toward completion of identified pri-
orities.
Councilmembers hesitated to take immediate action without more public notice
and comment; and sought to pursue additional discussion during the 2009 budget
presentation.
b. Discuss 2008 City of Roseville and Roseville Area Schools Meeting Summary
and Action Plans
City Manager Malinen presented potential action steps between Roseville Area
School District No. 623 and the City of Roseville that he and Dr. Thein had iden-
tified for collaborative action steps, as discussed by both bodies at a joint meeting
held June 25, 2008.
City Manager Malinen asked that the City Council accept the Meeting Summary
and Action Plan, noting that the School Board would be taking similar action, and
that this action would allow staff to move forward. Mr. Malinen noted that identi-
fication of a community facilities inventory appeared to be the most significant
priority for the benefit of the School District, City and the community to deter-
mine what was available and what unmet needs were evident.
Councilmember Roe noted that, on page 4 of Attachment A, the final four (4)
possible action steps were not specifically telecommunication needs, and sug-
gested that these be identified under a separate heading.
City Manager Malinen concurred, suggesting that those final four (4) items be
under a heading identified as "Overall Needs."
Councilmember Ihlan opined that she didn't feel comfortable approving all of the
items, but was amenable to receiving them as steps that had been discussed at the
joint meeting.
Klausing moved, Roe seconded, receipt of the 2008 City of Roseville and School
District 623 Meeting Summary and Action Plan, identified as "Attachment A" to
the staff report dated August 11, 2008.
