Recognitions, Donations, Communications
a. Proclamation of Golden K Kiwanis Peanut Day
Members of the North Suburban Golden K Kiwanis were present to kick off their
peanut drive. Three members were present, John Goedeke, Ron Ness, and Bill
Flittie, to review their various programming to raise money for children's pro-
grams, at which they volunteer their time and donations for area service programs,
primarily children's programs through their annual peanut sales.
Representatives noted that all proceeds went to programming in the northern sub-
urbs, with no administrative or overhead costs deducted; and they reviewed sev-
eral of the ongoing programs in which they participated, specifically highlighting
an after school program being held in Arden Hills, with great interest and results.
Representatives thanked the City of Roseville for allowing them to hold their
weekly Tuesday afternoon meetings at the OVAL without charge, meaning more
money for the children. Representatives noted that there were 116 members in
this specific club, all over 55 years of age.
Representatives advised that September 26, 2008 was their official nationwide
Peanut Day with over 600 clubs participating; and the local group being at four
area businesses (Har Mar Cub Store; Wal*Mart and Festival Foods in Vadnais
Heights; and Cub Foods in White Bear Township).
Mayor Klausing read the proclamation.
Pust moved, Ihlan seconded, proclamation of September 26, 2008 as Roseville
Golden K Kiwanis Peanut Day.
Roll Call
