a .
Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, March 17, 2008
Page 3
Councilmember Ihlan urged Ms. Cressy to return to next week's meetin to allow
g
the City Council to hear concerns from the public regarding this important public
resource; and suggested that a solution needed to be found to keep the theater
open.
Councilmember Pust invited owners of the Roseville 4 Theatre to the meeting as
well to provide their perspective, and for a discussion of specific financial issues
in keeping the theater open.
Ms. Cressy advised that petitioners were not concerned with where the theater
was located, just that it remains in the community.
5. Recognitions, Donations, Communications
a. Recognition of Goodmanson Construction for Sponsorship of New Year's
Eve at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL
City of Roseville Recreation/Retail Program Supervisor Kevin Elm introduced
Mr. Merl Goodmanson, representing the Goodmanson family and Goodmanson
Construction.
Mr. Elm thanked the Goodmansons for their gracious and enthusiastic sponsor-
. ship of the annual Roseville Skating Center New Year's Eve celebration, for the
third year.
Mr. Goodmanson advised that, as a small concrete company serving Roseville
and surrounding communities, they had a great time putting the party on, and ex-
pressed appreciation to staff, as well as his firm's staff for promoting the event,
soliciting and collecting door prizes, and their attendance and service at the event.
Mr. Goodmanson noted that having grown up in Roseville, he realized that if not
for the volunteers, staff and City Council support of such events, youth would
find other less positive activities; and assured all that their family would continue
to be an active part and attempt to serve as a positive resource in the City of
Roseville.
Following an enthusiastic round of applause, Mayor Klausing, on behalf of the
City Council, citizens and staff, thanked the Goodmanson family for representing
some of the "super" citizens of Roseville, going above and beyond the call of
duty, and helping to make Roseville a great place to live.
Closed Executive Session
Mayor Klausing noted that the City Council would briefly recess and convene in Closed
Executive Session, referring to City Attorney Scott Anderson to review the purpose of the
Executive Session.
