io ~~3108
September 11 Steering Committee Meeting September 4, 2008 Page 4
Attachment B
Committee Input on Unresolved Issues
This attachment contains the text of emails submitted by Committee members in response to the
request for guidance on unresolved issues that should be voted on by the Committee.
Tammy Pust
As the Comp Plan Steering Committee, working together we have done some great work. I thank
each of you for all the time, thought and effort you have brought to the table over the past several
months.
But we are not done. As you know, the results of our efforts must be presented to the Planning
Commission and then the City Council for review, recommendation, revision and/or adoption. To
complete their legally-required part of the process, both the Commission and the Council will
need, and deserve, an accurate understanding of whether our efforts reflect a majority consensus on
critical points, or do not. While I fully understand and appreciate that our group has not, and
should not, agree on every issue raised in the comprehensive document we have produced, I believe
the resulting product does reflect general consensus on most topics. In two very important aspects,
however, I do not believe we have yet achieved verified majority consensus. These two issues are, in
my opinion, the only critical matters that remain to be addressed and for which majority consensus
must be either confirmed or noted to be lacking: (1) whether to adopt existing and future master
plans into the Comprehensive Plan; and (2) whether to include the 100,000 square foot limitation
for any building in a Community Business land use category.
