Set Public Hearing for Chianti Grill Liquor Licenses <br />Pust moved, Roe seconded, establishing a public hearing on Monday, December <br />1, 2008 for the issuance of On-Sale & Sunday Intoxicating Liquor Licenses for <br />Chianti Grill at Har Mar Mall Outlot 82. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Pust; Willmus; Roe; Ihlan; and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />8. Consider Items Removed from Consent <br />After further consideration and discussion, the following items were removed from the <br />Consent Agenda. <br />a. Authorize Negotiation of 3-Year Audit Contract (former Consent Item 7.d) <br />Councilmember Ihlan questioned if this contract was based on the same profes- <br />sional services policy as the City Attorney and Prosecuting Attorney contracts. <br />City Manager Malinen affirmed that it was. <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined that, while the current CPA firm has been the com- <br />petitive low bidder in past contracts, it would be appropriate to seek bids to make <br />a determination if they continued to be competitive. <br />Finance Director Chris Miller advised that staff was recommending that staff ne- <br />gotiate acontract extension with the City's current auditors, expressing confi- <br />dence that they would remain low bidder. Mr. Miller noted that the City was in <br />the midst of a number of different financial reporting and disclosure procedures, <br />with additional procedures planned for 2009, and staff's rationale had been that <br />this would• not be a good time to transition to a new auditor. Mr. Miller advised <br />Councilmembers that staff could proceed with a formal Request for Proposals <br />(RFP) process; however, noted that the down side would be if bids were to come <br />in higher than direct negotiations.
