2009 — 2018 Capital Improvement Plan <br />Police <br />Officially formed in the early 1950's, with the assigned mission to protect life and property, the <br />Roseville Police Department has expanded not only personnel but the services it offers to the <br />community. Today the department has a staff of 50 sworn officers, seven civilians, four <br />community service officers, and hosts a myriad of volunteer opportunities including reserve <br />officers, citizen's park patrol, Explorers and the Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT). <br />Secause of its proximity to both Minneapolis and St. Paul, the police department sees a variety <br />of criminal activity. <br />The police department consists of four major divisions: Administration, Patrol, Investigations, <br />and Community Service. All employees of the department report to Chief of Police Carol M. <br />Sletner. <br />The Police Department's Mission Statement is: <br />We are committed to work as a team with other city departments and our community to provide <br />innovative, effective and eff cient service which will improve the quality of life in the City of <br />Roseville. <br />The Police Department's Vision Statement is: <br />We are committed to: <br />Service; We will provide quality service and protection to all people in an eff cient, <br />effective and innovative manner. <br />Integrity; We will uphold the public trust through honest, consistent and forthright <br />interaction with all people, fostering and maintaining the highest ethical standards. <br />Respect; <br />constitutional <br />understanding. <br />We will treat all persons with courtesy, dignity, and respect while upholding the <br />rights of all people; we will temper all actions with compassion and <br />The philosophy of the Roseville Police Department is contained in the Mission and Value <br />Statements, which were developed by the department. It is understood employees of this <br />department will act in good faith, always do their best and use high level professional judgment. <br />In an effort to achieve established goals and objectives, the Police Department has developed the <br />following action plans, proposing implementation in the years 2008-2011 (not in order of <br />priority) . <br />❖ 2008 -- Develop multi-lingual informational media to increase awareness and <br />communication with the non-English speaking community <br />❖ 2008 -- Increase electronic communication with the community to improve efficiency in <br />dissemination of pertinent information <br />14 <br />
