I think deporting illegal immigrants vioates their human rights. The Fourth
Amndment explains haw people have the right to be sa'e from unreasonable searches
and seizures. Thes raids clearly violate this constiiutional right. I think these
goernment raids also violate the Eighth Amentment which states, "Excessive bail sall
nat be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nar cnel and unusual purtishmen#s
inflicted." I feei being departed is cruel and unusuai punishment because parenis are
separated from their children and their lives are shattered. They cane ta the United States
for a reason, to earn a living ard have aetter Iife for teir fanilies.
There are many articles in the United Nations Universat Declaration of Hurnan
Rights that these raids ciearly violate. 'or example article number five says, "flo one shall
be subjected to torture or to crel, rnuman or degrading treatrnent." The ICE raids vioIate this hecase targetin workplaces and a--esting
people because of their raee is arbitrary. Of all 34 articles or the Uriversal Decaration of
Human Rights, I thirc at least half of those have been abused by ICE wifh their poiicy of
workpace raids.
There are many efforts being undertaker to bring jstice to this situation. There
are rrary lawsui#s being led agains# ICE an behalf of the workers. Many human rights
campaigns are taking action on this issue. Some of these organizations are creating
petitians to fght against this undocumented irrinigran issue. One petition, "Petition
AIleging Violations of the Hwnan Rights of Undociunented Workers of the United Sta.tes
of America," chaIlenges govenment discrimination against immigrant workers.
