Department Approval <br />Item Description <br />BACKGROUND <br />l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Human Rights Essay Contest Winners <br />Date: February 23, 2009 <br />Item No.: S.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />� / <br />Each year the Roseville Human Rights Commission holds an essay contest for sixth, seventh and <br />eighth grade students within the Roseville Area School's boundaries. This year more than 240 <br />students from RAMS and Parkview School entered the contest. Commissioners conducted an <br />anonymous review of the essays. Names of the students were not known until after the winners <br />were selected. <br />This year students chose a current news event in which they believed there was a human rights <br />violation.
