Nu�nerous <br />people die evezy year from exhaustion caused by overwork, inj�.�ry from machinery, ab�se <br />by managers, and sickness due to unciean surrour�dings. Some factory mar;agers and <br />supervisors even rape, abuse, and assault the workers to scare #hem into not ieaving, even <br />ihough they are abused. Article 23, Section 1 o#'the Unfversal Declaratian of Human <br />Rights states: "Everyane has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to j�st ar�d <br />favorable conditians of work and to protection against unernployment." These pevple <br />definitely do not work in favorable conditipns; they work in very harmful environinents. <br />I think that it is appalling that children also work in these types of environments. <br />Many companies ihat use sweatshops prefer hiring chiIdren instead of aduits beca�se <br />many can work faster and the cortlpanies can pay them less or eve� nothing at al�. Artic�e <br />23, Section 2 of the Universal Declaration of Hurnar� Rig�is states: "Everyone, without <br />any discri�ninafior�, has the right to eyual pay for eq�al work." Many co�panies that use <br />sweatshops hire children who are ineligible #o work. About 250 �nillion children who are <br />between the ages of �ive and fourteen are �ired at sweatshops to work full time, daing <br />very dangerous jobs. I do not t�i.nk that these corr�panies should talce advantage oi these <br />vulnerable childrer�. <br />People who work in sweatshops don't choase to work there.
