o Create an ordinance that will require the establishment of turf or other <br />acceptable plantings in residentially zoned yards. Currently, the City does not <br />require turf establishment for residentially zoned areas. <br />o Modify the ordinance to restrict the parking of vehicles in the front yard from <br />10 days to 1 day. <br />o Amend the ordinance regarding the storage of RVs and trailers in residential <br />areas. <br />/ Northeast Diagonal Corridor Planning -Planning staff, along with the City of <br />Vadnais Heights staff, is in the process of creating a coalition of communities along <br />the Northeast Diagonal Corridor to advocate for the planning and development of the <br />potential transit corridor. While the planning has just started, staff anticipates <br />interaction with the Planning Commission on the matter as the coalition starts putting <br />together a work plan and possibly looks to undertake master planning along the <br />corridor. <br />/ Rice Street Corridor -Planning staff has initiated conversations with the cities of <br />Little Canada and Maplewood and Ramsey County about the future of the Rice Street <br />Corridor. While it is uncertain what will come from these discussions, staff is hopeful <br />that a uniform design code and master planning will result from this work. Like the <br />Northeast Diagonal Corridor planning effort, staff anticipates interaction with the <br />Planning Commission as the effort moves ahead. <br />/ Snelling Ave. Transit Corridor -The 2030 Comprehensive Plan identifies Snelling <br />Ave. as a future transit corridor. The Planning Commission will coordinate with staff <br />and MnDOT on potential studies of the corridor. Staff will keep the Planning <br />Commission informed and bring items forward for its deliberation as needed. <br />/ Bike/Pedestrian Issues -The Planning Commission has indicated a strong desire to <br />advocate for creating more bike and pedestrian opportunities throughout the City and <br />in (re)development projects. In addition, there is a need to improve the safety of <br />existing bike and pedestrian accesses. The Planning Commission will work with <br />Planning and Public Works staff in identifying new corridors and needed <br />improvements for existing corridor. The Planning Commission will also participate in <br />any bike/pedestrian studies that would be undertaken in 2009. <br />/ Complete Streets -The Planning Commission has expressed a desire to learn more <br />about "Complete Streets". Staff will arrange for a presentation on "Complete Streets" <br />at a regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting. <br />/ Roseville Parks Master Plan -The Planning Commission will be engaged in the <br />Parks Master Planning process to be undertaken in 2009. Involvement may include <br />review portions of the plan, participating in open houses, and the serving on <br />committees reviewing and creating the plan. <br />
