Your time and interest is very much appreciated.
It has been some time since that meeting and we hope that, even though two months have
passed, you will understand that citizen concerns have not diminished.
Every property within a one mile square is privately owned. Tom and I believe that rental
properties are not maintained as well as owner-occupied dwellings nor do we think that Mr.
Mueller's concept of $150,000+ deposit plus monthly rent will appeal to prospective
renters. The proposal of senior housing may be a ploy to obtain rezoning and then change
use afterward.
Once public discussion was ended at the April 13 City Planning Commission meeting, the
City Planning office commented that high density zoning was needed as a buffer. A buffer
from what? There is only a home on the 2 acre parcel at this time and neighbors have not
asked for noise abatement help. Midland Grove Condominiums is high density and it, rather
than the 2 acre Orchard parcel, is the buffer from the I-35/Hwy. 36 interchange.
Hopefully, the City Council will question carefully any potentially influential
information which is presented after the public can comment.
We live within 100 feet of the proposed structure in a 1 story ranch condo. The 48+ foot
apartment building will tower over our home and be similar to a solid wall along the east
and north border of it's property. From Mr. Enzler's home and our property, the
48'structure will look very much like the huge freeway sound barrier walls on I-35W south
of Minneapolis because Mr. Mueller's proposed building extends the entire width and length
of the property in question.
Both Midland Hills Condominium Association and Ferriswood have abundant green areas while
Mr. Mueller's proposal is essentially concrete parking in the front and 48 foot structure
1
