Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, May 18, 2009 <br />Page 3 <br />Mayor Klausing expressed his personal thanks to Nick Gawreluk and expressed <br />his enthusiasm that the button design was taken into the community and High <br />School. Mayor Klausing asked that staff provide a proclamation or certificate <br />formally recognizing Nick for future presentation. <br />Nick Gawreluk thanked the City Council and community for this opportunity, <br />noting his enjoyment in participating; opining that it was great for kids to design <br />something for the community. <br />Ms. Anfang announced that buttons were available for sale; and introduced mem- <br />bers of the organizing committee for their tireless efforts to provide the commu- <br />nity with a fun and festive event; and acknowledged some of them able to be pre- <br />sent at tonight's meeting. Ms. Anfang recognized the participation of all City de- <br />partments and their staff in keeping the community safe during the Rosefest pa- <br />rade and related summer events. <br />On behalf of the community, City Council and staff, Mayor Klausing thanked all <br />volunteers involved in the summer events, recognizing Ms. Anfang and staff for <br />her coordination of the volunteers and many efforts related to the events; and <br />noted that this was the 19th year for the parade, and that it had become an integral <br />part of the community. <br />b. Proclamation of June 7, 2009 as Frank Rog Day <br />Ms. Anfang summarized recent improvements to the Central Park Frank Rog <br />Amphitheatre, as detailed in the staff report dated May 18, 2009; and requested <br />the City Council's proclamation of June 7, 2009 as "Frank Rog Day" in Roseville. <br />Mayor Klausing read a proclamation celebrating the 27-year career of Frank Rog <br />as the City of Roseville's Parks & Recreation Director; and recognizing the com- <br />munity leadership of Mr. Frank Rog and his contributions in establishing, devel- <br />oping, and growth in creating award winning, nationally recognized City Parks <br />and Recreation programs and facilities. <br />Johnson moved, Ihlan seconded, proclamation of June 7, 2009 as "Frank Rog <br />Day" in Roseville. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Roe; Johnson; Ihlan; Pust; and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />c. Recognition of Girl Scout Gold Award Recipients <br />Mayor Klausing recognized and expressed appreciation to several girl scout lead- <br />ers present at tonight's meeting: Laurie Tierney and Patsy Olson. <br />
