It was anticipated that a more reasonable and
= stable cost for installation could be obtained at a later date with consideration
given to the geothermal feasibility study.
:
r The tubing would be installed within the concrete and the concrete portion of the
project is soon ready to be poured. Timing is such that the geothermal feasibility
, study has not been completed and analyzed fully so there still remains a question
? on that future heat source.
,
t It is now the recommendation of staff to move forward with the engineering and
? i installation of the tubing in the concrete as a part of this project and connect to
? the existing boiler system. It is anticipated that the labor and material savings
i3 (shoveling, sanding, sweeping, etc.) will outweigh the operational costs. The
: engineers estimate to operate this portion of the in-concrete heating is $450
;s. annually which will be paid for by the Skating Center annual operating budget.
: the engineers have also determined that the capacity of the existing boiler
  system is sufficient.
3 3
.-i= The price estimate received from the architect for the total project includes
? engineering, installation and connection of the in- concrete heating system as
 - follows:
  Architecfiural/ngineering $ 2,000
  Mechanical $ 18,018
  Site work $ 4,784
a 5 Contingency (10%) . i
1 , TOTAL ,3
