Currently, <br />animals are license� for up to twa years which is baseci on the rabies vaccirtation period. An internet <br />search of ciiies acrass Minnesota for lifetime lice�ses �raduced only Minneapafis and St. Pat�f as �niis of <br />gavernmenfi who offer lifefime [icenses. The results of this search are attached to this RCA. <br />Policv: <br />I� is witF�in the CounciPs authvrity tn amend city code. <br />Financial: <br />Th� pofice depar�rr�ent v+iill need to purchase a microchip reader at a cost af approximately $225. At this tim�, <br />city sfiaff does nat send ouf renewa6 notices b�t wiil ta lifetime license ho[ders in order to remind o�rvners �o <br />�aecirtaie their pets. If thes� renewa! letters reach a high �evel, a computer program may be required to <br />automate the process.
