" Welf, think <br />about it for a moment. Isn't that true? Kindergarten is a turning point in our lives when all <br />of a sudden we really do have to learn how to get along with a large group of strange <br />kids. We learn to share, help others and not judge people by how they look. It's almost <br />as if when you're that young you're able to learn some of the most important things that <br />our world needs. So, why is it when we grow up that we seem to forget these basic <br />rules about getting along that we learned back in kindergarten? <br />As we grow older, life gets more complicated. We have to be more independent <br />and face tough situations and choices. For example, I started seventh grade this year <br />and it was an extreme change. I've seen kids fighting and being teased like I never did <br />before. The truth is that most kids are upset about this and don't like seeing other kids <br />hurt. Yet, most of us feel pressured to be cool and not stop it. We worry that if we say <br />something we wil� end up being the kid that gets picked on. VVe will be the kid that no <br />one is standing up for and the kid that is being hurt on the inside and out everyday. <br />VVe tell ourselves that it doesn't really matter. It's only �' grade. <br />But let's take a step back into the past and think about some of the worlds <br />biggest and most horrifying hate crimes. In 1933, the holocaust started. It was one of <br />the worst hate crimes ever committed. Back at the start of America, we had slavery and <br />people believed that African Americans were not equal like the rest of us. More <br />recently, 9111 killed thousands of people and showed that some people hate other <br />
