Roseville Visitors Association (�VA.) Annual Report to Council <br />RVA Executive Director Julie Larson was present for this annual report, in <br />addition to Melissa Deming, Project Coordinator, and Michelle Rein, Chair <br />of the RVA 2007 Board of Directors and General Manager of Residence Inn <br />by Marriott. Ms. Larson noted that Mr. John Stark, the City's Community <br />Development Director, was also a member of the 2007 Board of Directors. <br />Ms. Larson reviewed RVA staffing, their Mission Statement, and funding <br />through the 3% lodging tax at nine hotels in Roseville. <br />1� Ms. Larson outlined current Roseville's participation in the tourism business <br />I� in Minnesota; economic impact of expenditures in the metropolitan region <br />1� (�.e., spending, job creation, and state and government revenues); travel ac- <br />�� tivities (i.e., dining, shopping, attending events, and area amenities); sales, <br />� 1 marketing, coupon book and food shelf promotions through Roseville <br />�� Glows! and promotion on television and radio stations during the holidays <br />�� focusing on the Roseville Glows! events. <br />24 <br />2.� Ms. Larson addressed leads from individual travel and trade shows, and <br />��, sales calls and web inquiries; bids from clients expressing interest in reserv- <br />�� ing rooms in the Roseville area; booked hotel room nights; 2006 estimated <br />�� economic impacts; tours; and other promotion and sales events, along with <br />�{� memberships in professional organizations <br />��? <br />31 Ms. Larson noted upcoming plans for 2007 with conventions, events and <br />,��� tradeshows; advertising; and additional ways to promote and sell Roseville <br />�;� for 2008, with the middle school Roseville Winter Jazz Blast; the State of <br />�4 Minnesota's Sesquicentennial; and participation in the 2008 Republican Na- <br />�5 tional Conventions by Roseville hotels and businesses. <br />�� <br />�',� Councilmembers and Ms. Larson discussed various components of the pres- <br />�� �ntaiio�,�� further clarified sales and promotion items; the City's hotel tax <br />�� at 9.�%, lower than the norm at 13.5%. <br />� [� <br />
