Discussion of the Commission Appointment Process <br />1� City Manager MaIinen brought forward discussion on the City Council's <br />��+ process for reappointing Citizen Advisory Commissions; and provided, for <br />� 1 reference, Resolution No. 10266 and a matrix developed by staff on recent <br />��. annual appointment/areappozntament processes. City Manager Malinen sug- <br />�� gested discussion in an attempt to streamline the process. <br />�� <br />��� Mayor Klausing offered his support for the recently-enacted current practice <br />��� with each Councilmember selecting two people — without ranking — to de- <br />�.� termine preferences and those who emerge as consensus candidates and <br />�� moving that consensus or discussion and nominations as indicated. <br />�� <br />�0 <br />31 <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�� <br />�S <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined her guarded support for the process, depending <br />on the number of candidates for each vacancy. <br />Mayor Klausing clarified that recent practice had been that each Council- <br />member submit two names for each vacancy. <br />Mayor Klausing further addressed Councilmember Ihlan's previously- <br />expressed concerns regarding transparency in the process; with considerable <br />discussion ensuing regarding whether there was value in identifying candi- <br />
