Roo� observed that �he alteirnate <br />recornznenda�ions were also very elea�r, and apparently had the support <br />of a number of eitizens. Mr. Root opined �hat, while he didn't w�sh �o <br />take anything away fi om thc wo�rk o� the CAG and sta�'t; he was sup- <br />poxiive o� #he al�ernate recommendatians. <br />Mr. Root made several observations: <br />i) He didn't think�the CAG got to the crux of the issue, and wasn't <br />sure if they were expected to wiihzn thei;r t�me cons�ain�s; and <br />noted the speed afi wh�ch a neighborhood's character eould evalve, <br />whether dras�ically or during the typical ne�ghbarhaod life cycle, <br />and how fihat could be determined by supporting a s�zding sca�e <br />based on contiguous Iot �izes. <br />2) �pined that more consideration be given �o specific areas, with <br />zoning laws taking ihat into accoun� and allowing for different <br />standa�ds, and since th�s could be eumbearsome, additional s�udy <br />was pruden�. <br />3} Opined tha� the map used by �he CAG showing which lois were <br />subdzvidable was a good piece of infoa�-ama�ion, and shou�d be �'or- <br />mally updated as ta accuracy by the Community Development D�� <br />partmen� s�aff and made avai�able �or public information. <br />28 Al Sands, 2612 A�d�ne <br />29 Mr. Sands summarized his written comments, provided by Bench <br />3o Handaui, as a merno to the City Council.
