■ City Hall redo connecting all facilities and to the main trail system <br />• County Road B2 pathway reconstruction and addition <br />■ Larpentuer Avenue Connection <br />o Develop a pathway system enabling residents to leave their home and reach a leg of the <br />trail system within several blocks. <br />■ Larpenteur Avenue Connection <br />■ Redo of the Sandcastle Park Trail System <br />o Illuminate non-motorized paths to promote increased safety and maximize their utilization. <br />o Coordinate access to the Willard Munger State Trail (Gateway Trail) connecting the <br />Roseville trail system to the Gateway Trail. <br />o Develop a long-range plan to plant/forest and otherwise beautify all trails in conjunction <br />with the comprehensive trail system. <br />o Bury power lines and utility cables as a part of each major renovation project to allow for <br />easy trail system development in the future. <br />■ Currently in discussion stages. <br />o Construct additional floating boardwalks to improve access through and enjoyment of <br />nature areas. <br />■ Preparing grant applications to reconstruct the boardwalk at the Harriet Alexander <br />Nature Center <br />o Enter into cooperative agreements permitting land use for paths along industrial, County, <br />and State right-of-ways. <br />o Create a Citizen Trail/Pathway Committee to develop recommendations for the <br />development and implementation of the above strategies. <br />■ Done. <br />Programs <br />To provide leisure programs in the year 2000 and beyond that allow for sociability, development <br />of fitness, cultural expression, and environmental appreciation. <br />o Provide for coordination by all units of government, churches, senior developments and <br />other private sector developments in the provision of programs and services. Have incorporated the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum and the Wildlife <br />Rehabilitation Center into the education process. <br />o Establish focus groups to identify unmet programs and recreational needs within the City <br />of Roseville (e.g. ages 45 - 55, over 55, family units, individuals with physicaUmental <br />disabilities, etc.). <br />■ Conducted focus groups in 1998 for various topics including the above. <br />Vista 2000 Report Page 12 of 24 <br />
