Failue to rtail notice
23 In addition to the printed notice in the Roseville Review and the mailed notice, all
agendas (and staff reports) are available on the city web site the Friday before the
meeting. Meetings are televised and minutes are available on the web. The practice of
setting mailing distances is an art — recognizing that more mailings in a physically
connected neighborhood are better that fewer. In past years we have also used on-site land
use notice boards. These are more visible in the non-snowy months when they are not
blown over by wind or snow plows.
2.4 Comparisons: If the Council chooses to change the City Code, here are some examples of
what might be expected. The staff estimates that each mailed notice costs in excess of
$0.50 including paper, copying, card setup, handling and address labels setup, and
mailing. For illustrative purposes we have used $0.50 to $1.00 per card. While our staff
can do this efficiently, there is also some lost time and opportunity cost that is not
calculated here. The 2006 Community Development budget for notification is $1,950.00
to include mailing and published notices.
2.5 Below are four examples (Kimco Realty — Franks; Jeff Brown — Oakcrest @ Harnline;
Target Corporation — Supertarget/Perkins; and Rottlund Homes —Phase I Twin Lakes) of
the estimated cost of mailing out general public notices.
