i h
International Propert_y Maintenance Cade/Rasevile Citv Code
Comparison
The International Property Maintenance Code is simply a building maintenance code that utilizes
nationally recognized standards instead of the few vague sentences in Roseville's City Code. For the
most part, the I.P.M.C. requires existing systems to he maintained in working order, it does not
requires upgrading to today's more stringent codes ( a few exceptions for life-safety: smoke
detectors and ground fault outlets in nl properties only). The I.P.M.C. better explains what is
meant by maintaining a structure, for example "...all plumbing fixtures shall be properly
installed.. .and shall be capable of performing the intended function" and "All foundations shall be
maintained.. .to prevent the entry of rodents and other pests."
The following is a comparison of the LP.M.C. and the existing Roseville City Code
International Property Maintenance Code
i'a.rd
– Clean and sanitary
– Weeds –maximum 8"
– Motor vehicles in yards
– Rodent harborage
Driveway in good repair
– Prevent stagnant water
accumulation
– Clean off graffiti
Roseville City Code
farri
 Same
– Same
– Same
– Same
– Silent on this
– Silent on this
– Silent on this
Building Exterior 3uitdin Exterior
... – Exterior maintenance (the – Same
— I.P.M.C. does a better job of
— explaining minimum standards)
Garbage on site
– Security for occupants (working
locks)
Insect screens (common
complaint we receive)

– Same
– Silent on this
– Silent on this
