REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval: Manager A <br />DW `���(�� <br />DATE: 02-13-2006 <br />ITEM N�: 4.� <br />Agenda �ectifln: <br />CONSENT <br />Item Description: Service Agreemeut for Economic DeveIapan�e�t S�pport -2046 <br />1.0 SACKGROUND <br />1.1 Attached is a draft arulual s�r�vice agree:rar�ent used with the City's econorr�ic development <br />cansultant Janna King, dba Econamic Development Services. The Community <br />Development Staff has used Ms. King's firm for business retention and industrial <br />l�usiness research since the rnid 1990's wit�a an annual or biar�nual ser�ice agreement. <br />1.2 The proposed service contract with Ecanornic Developrr�ent Services includes: An <br />inventory of all businesses (2,200) ira the com�unity through an analysis of Dun and <br />Bradstreet statistics; an update to the "Busin��sLink" email list, enhancing the <br />eommunity's connection with targeted industrieslbusinesses by preparing a quarterly e- <br />mail newsletter; and review af the general business retention strategy. The service <br />agareement wzll not exceed $4,504 for tY�e year and is funded from the approved 2006 <br />Econornic Development Budget, Professional Services Line Ite�n. <br />1.3 <br />2.0 <br />Because t�e Comrriunity Development program and the Roseville Visitors Assoczation <br />are bnth using Ms. King's services, we are ab�e to share wark and reduce overall co5ts for <br />the two operatians. <br />STAFF COMMENT <br />2.0 The staff has reviewed the alternatives. In the past we have had a full ti�ne econotnic <br />development specialist and this year vvill be hiring an entry �evel ecanomic development <br />assoczate.
