C�RT teams are <br />organized and trained in accordance with standard operatir�g procedures developed by the City's <br />emergency management team as a charter federal partner of the Na�ianaf Citizen Corps Council. <br />The C�RT program can pra�ide an effective first res�onse capability direetly in the neig�rborhoods where <br />team members li�e. Acting as indi�iduals firs#, then later as members af teams, trained CERT volunteers <br />respond to emergency events impacting their neig�borhood. CERT team members are also trained <br />volunteer groups that may be utilized as a �olunteer work farce to service argan€zations, emergency <br />sf�elter suppo�t, crawd cantrol and evacuation events. <br />The initial CERT team wil] consist af twenty members. Beginning in March 2006, CERT team members <br />will be recruited frarr� il�e current Neighborhood Watch graup list. Media caverage and IocaE r�ews articles <br />are planr�ed that wifl promote Rosevilfe's CER7 program. <br />PROP05ED ACT�Ol� <br />if approved by the Ciry Council, volunteer CERT team members will attend nine, three E�our training <br />sessions, focusing on a varieiy of emergency response topics to include: disaster preparedness, fire <br />safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, CERT organization, disaster psychology, <br />ar�d terrorism. The CERT course culminates with an actual live exercise in which tearrt members <br />demanstrate newly acquired CERT skills. <br />The CERT caurse is taught by volunteer trainers from the City's pofice and fire departments.
