It will also allow <br />cou�ic�l members to request any ir��o��r�ation that they might think is relevant to a <br />consideration of the agenda iten�c. <br />Third, it will enable to council to better control their workload. If there is no interest on <br />the part of the council in pursuing a particular agenda item, members can indicate so at <br />the proceeding meeting. If council members have an issue that they think is important, it <br />is generally preferable that the issue receives a ftill airing before the council. <br />Nonetheless, there may well be particular issues that are of ilo interest to anyone but the <br />individual council member. In those cases the council as a body ca1� indicate its desire <br />not to consider a particular issue and vote to remove the item from the agenda. <br />Finally, this procedure preserves the right of individual council members to place issues <br />before the council and the public. Even if the council ultimately decides that it wants to <br />remove an item froin the agenda, the item still receives a public discussion and the <br />advocating council member has a chance to � i i�lti � the case to his or her fellow council <br />members as to why the item deserves to remain on tl�e agenda. <br />REQUESTED ACTION <br />1 a�n requesting that the council consider modifying its procedure so that the deadline for <br />submission of council agenda items is changed froin the Wednesday before the rneeting, <br />to 11 days before the meeting. <br />
