� <br />➢ Market the value of Roseville Area Schools by focusing on the areas where there are <br />outstanding results. <br />o Model after other school districts that have successfully implemented this approach <br />o Marketing approach should be done in such a way that maintains favorable <br />relationships with surrounding districts and communities <br />o Attract open enrollment students to Roseville Area schools <br />➢ Continue to explore joint ventures with cities within the boundaries of the Roseville School <br />District. Pilot the sharing of school building space where there is excess capacity. <br />� Work with the Legislature to implement an "Equitable Statewide School Building <br />Improvement or Maintenance Fund" that would replace the Alternative Facilities Levy, serve <br />the same needs, and benefit all state school districts. <br />o Continue to increase efforts to influence the Legislature to increase public school <br />funding <br />9 Pilot an early learning program beginning with age 4 as a feeder system to kindergarten. <br />Research supports the importance of early learning experiences for greater school success. <br />� Explore decentralizing Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program. <br />o Consider having programs at elementary sites as a way to build interest and retain <br />students at neighborhood schools. <br />Long Term Recommendations <br />As we consider the future of Roseville Area Schools, closing a school building is the last resort. <br />Alternatives to consider: <br />9 Work with fibe cities to create a land development strategy that supports the distinct needs of <br />the community overall and that includes affordabfe housing and attracting young families <br />with children. <br />o May include selling excess land with buildings not currently being used directly for <br />education of children, e.g. those buildings that do house active K-12 classrooms. <br />o Focus first on open land such as near Capitol View or Fairvietiv Community Center. <br />9 Consider closing Fairview Community Center and relocating programs to existing facilities. <br />A study would need to be undertaken to assure sufficient $� appropriate space is available in <br />other locations to make this viable. Table repairs and deferred maintenance pending study <br />completion. <br />o Further determine the benefits l disadvantages of renting out FVCC once empty. <br />o Further determine the benefits f disadvantages of razing FVCC, and eliminating cost <br />of skeletal maintenance of empty b�ildings and future district use / development of <br />land. <br />9 Utilize buildings in other acceptable ways to avoid school closure. <br />
