Further discussion included travel arteries and parallel pathways; drainage issues corrected in conjunction with pathway construction; need for neighborhood survey and input; and noting that Ms. Reitz was not a resident on Fairview Avenue. Councilmember Ihlan opined that the pathway plan definitely should be reviewed and updated; but further opined that she had no conflict in supporting the motion and doing the overall pathway work. Councilmember Ihlan reiterated her desire to include exploring the northern piece of Fairview Avenue as well; recognizing that if no money was available, that would impact the Council's decision. Public Works Director Schwartz spoke to staffs awareness and availability of funding sources, noting that applications for state grants, generally through the Department of Natural Resources, were accepted the first two months of each year, with the first opportunity for application and consideration being in 2007. Mr. Schwartz noted that application for federal �undir�g, through the Federal Transportation Act, for safety monies, would next be available for application in the summer of 2007, for award for funding years 201 � and 2012. Mr. Schwartz further noted that additional federal funding in the amount of $25 million earmarked for the metropolitan area, was yet to be determined as far as allocation or the process, for this pilot proj ect. Additional discussion included sources for federal and/or state funding; and Ramsey County's construction schedule for Fairview Avenue. Mr. Schwartz noted that he was only aware of the County's intent to seek grant funds for reconstruction of B-2 by Ros�da�� in the 2009-2010 construction year.
