May 18,2006
Honorable Mayor Klausing
City of Roseville
RE: Letter in Support of Twin Lakes Crushing Permit
Mayor Klausing and Council Members,

' JI r•jl ; Li
J { 1 4J
We were once again amazed to read in the May 17,2006 Star Tribune North of activists attempts
to derail, delay and create roadblocks for the Twin Lakes redevelopment project by attempting to
create fear and scare residents into believing the proposed crushing operation will be a public
health threat. That is preposterous! Redevelopment of the underutilized truck terminals at
Cleveland Ave. and County Road C will be one of the best steps the city can tal{e to protect the
public health. The proposed crushing operation is just one small step in the larger redevelopment
process. Through the redevelopment process, significant environmental contamination will be
cleaned up and managed according to all applicable state rules and regulations – including the
proposed crushing operation.
The proposed reuse of concrete and asphalt on the site as road base and parking lot base is the
only wise, prudent, and environmentally sound action to take. It is unbelievable to us to think
the Council would even consider adding over 17,000 truck trips to our roads, filling the landfills
with 60,000 tons of valuable recyclable material, and adding enormous cost to an already
financially difficult project. Allowing the crushing of the recycle material on site is the right
decision.
We support the proposed application for an Interim Use Permit to allow crushing and ask that
you VOTE YES to approve the request.
Thank you,
 ,
 '

Cal and Ann Ross
2189 St. Croix St. N
Roseville, MN 55113
651-487-9210
—
