Consider a Public Works, Environment and Transportation <br />(PWET) Commissioner <br />City Manager Neal Beets reviewed the status of the PWET <br />Commission; and due to a recent resignation, the existence of a <br />vacancy for a term that expires March 31, 2008. Mr. Beets noted <br />that in April, the City Council directed staff to advertise for the <br />position, with applications due by June 2; with three (3) <br />applications received: James Debenedet; John Kysylyczyn; and <br />Doug Root. <br />Mr. Beets recommended one of three options: <br />1) Appointing a Commissioner at tonight's meeting, based <br />on attached applications and the City Council's existing <br />familiarity with the applicants; <br />2) Directing staff to schedule 10-minute interviews with all <br />candidates beginning at 5.2� p.m. on June 20; with <br />subsequent appointment on June 20; or <br />3) Directing staff to schedule an interview at S:45 p.m. on <br />June 20 with Mr. Debenedet, since he had not been <br />recently or frequently interviewed, with subsequent <br />appointment on June 20 of a Commissioner. <br />Councilmember Pust spoke in support of Mr. Debenedet as a <br />Commissioner to the PWE�'. <br />Councilmember Kough opined that it was City policy to <br />Consider a <br />PWET <br />Commissioner <br />
