Department Approval <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCILACTION <br />Manager Reyiew�: <br />• ' ! <br />r' �_ }� f , - - <br />�' �� �: iJ ��v <br />DATE: 7110106 <br />ITEM NO: S.h <br />Agenda Section: <br />Iterrt Description: Authorizing Change Orders and Project Close Out for the <br />Repair and Upgrades of the Refrigeration System at the <br />Roseville Skating Center1 Guidant John Rose Minnesota <br />OVAL <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 20. 2005 the City Council authorized the reoairs to the OVAL <br />refrigeration system utifizir�g funds donated by the Friends of the OVAL <br />Foundation. These funds were contributed by the Guidant Foundation specifically <br />to be used for the necessary repairs and enhancements. At this same meeting, <br />the Council awarded the bid for the repairs to Cool Air Mechanical. <br />Work began in mid-July 2005 and was completed in time to open the OVAL on <br />November y���', 2005 as planned. This project was very complicated and several <br />issues arose as the repairs proceeded. It was determined that the corrosion was <br />not exclusive to the chiller, but had spread to several other areas of the brine <br />piping system. Therefore, it was necessary to change the scope of the project at <br />different stages of construction, still staying within the $500K contribution by the <br />Guidant Foundation through the FOF. <br />The majority of the repairs are now complete and staff is requesting council's <br />official approval for the necessary change orders and close out of the project as <br />outlined. The project was paid for by the City with reimbursement by the Friends <br />of the OVAL Foundation per each invoice. <br />Payments made are as follows: <br />1. Pay Request �� <br />2.
