In collaboration with the <br />Council, he�she is expected to assist in the cre- <br />ation and implementation of the long-term vision <br />and strategic plans for Roseville. This City Man- <br />ager will lead the orgaz�izadon's management team <br />in wo:e�ixa.g directly with citizens; commissioners; <br />businesses; federal, state and local government <br />entities and elected officials; and others regarc�.z�g <br />the City and its priorities and policies. The City <br />Manager has indirect oversight of the ent�e staff <br />and direct oversight of the siY department direc- <br />tors (CommunityDevelopmentDirector, Finar�ee <br />Director, Fire Chief, Parks and Recreation Direc- <br />tor, Police Chief, and Public Works Director) as <br />well as five Administrative staff (Human Re- <br />sources Manager, 2 Communications Specialists, <br />Executive Assistant and Office Assistant). <br />The new City Manager wi I I be expected to exercise <br />a diplomatic, collaborative and communicative <br />management style establishing credibility early in <br />order to foster a positive wor�g environment <br />and to facilitate cooperative problem solving <br />approaches to common issues among department <br />heads. The successful candidate will also need to <br />exercise considerable tact, diplomacy and knowl- <br />edge of political issues in working with City <br />Council members and special interest groups with <br />differing agendas. Other duties of the City Man- <br />ager include, but are not limited to: <br />Leading and �dat�g collaborative, citizen <br />involved strategic planning and visioning <br />efforts <br />Managis�g the City with consideration not <br />only for fiscal soundness, but also for long- <br />teri�. economic vitality and environmental <br />impacts to the general community <br />Delegating to department directors and <br />administration staff the responsibility for <br />attaining their portion of the objectives of <br />the City's overall strategic plan and <br />mentoring innovation and creativity as <br />important organizational values <br />Coordinating the operations of direct <br />reports and monitoring their individual and <br />collective progress against established <br />objectives while tal�ng� or directing correc- <br />tive action when necessary <br />Establishing and maintaining contact with <br />appropriate state and federal legislative <br />representatives to ensure Rosevi�le's <br />
